This is the main page of the Taiwan Expat Blog Directory.
Although many more blogs can be found created by expats living and working in Taiwan, I followed three criteria in deciding whether or not to include a blog:
1. Is the blog still active?
In most cases the blogs in this directory are still active at the time I’m writing this. There are some exceptions where a blogger has indeed moved on (or back to where they came from), but I decided to keep the blog in the line-up because the content is above average.
2. Is the blogger of the alien resident persuasion?
Seeing that this is an expat blog directory, it naturally follows that most of the bloggers should, in fact, be expats. One reason is the peculiarity of the expat experience compared to local Taiwanese residents, the other reason being language. Having said that, there are some Taiwanese bloggers who write in English – for this reason and because of the usefulness of the content, I decided to include their work.
3. Is the blog mostly about Taiwan?
Some expats started a blog during a one year stint in Taiwan, and continued writing about their personal life journey after they had returned to theirt home countries (or in some cases, from Korea, Japan, or another Asian country). Because the primary readership of this site is the English-language expat in Taiwan, almost all the blogs are from people writing about their experiences whilst residing on this beautiful island.
For practical purposes I separated the directory in five sections, plus a section on Taiwan expat related forums and bulletin boards:
